We want every experience with Crafty Chook to feel thoughtful, personal and straightforward. These Terms & Conditions outline the important information you need to know when shopping with us, booking a workshop or using our website.
By purchasing from Crafty Chook or using this website, you agree to the terms below.
Customer Care
We value our customers and want you to be delighted with your Crafty Chook purchase.
If something isn't right with your order, please get in touch. As a small business, we genuinely care about the products and experiences we create and will always do our best to resolve any concerns promptly and fairly.

Our Products
Crafty Chook products are thoughtfully selected or handcrafted in small batches from our home studio in Papamoa, New Zealand.
Because many of our products are handmade, small variations in colour, finish, fragrance, appearance or packaging may occur. Handmade ceramic pieces in particular may have natural variations in shape, glaze and finish. We consider these differences part of the individual character of handmade products rather than faults.
We make every effort to represent products, colours and sizes accurately on our website, although colours and appearance may vary slightly between screens.
From time to time, products, fragrances and seasonal collections may be available only in limited quantities.
Prices & Payment
All prices displayed on the Crafty Chook website are in New Zealand dollars (NZD).
Available payment methods are displayed at checkout.
Prices, products and promotions may change from time to time. The price applicable to your order is the price displayed when your order is placed, except where there has been an obvious error.
If an item becomes unavailable after you place an order, we will contact you and offer an appropriate alternative or refund.
Orders
Once an order has been placed, you will receive confirmation using the contact details provided at checkout.
Please check that your delivery address and contact information are correct before completing your order. If you notice an error after ordering, contact us as soon as possible and we will do our best to help before your order is dispatched.
Crafty Chook reserves the right to cancel and refund an order where we are unable to fulfil it, where a product has been listed incorrectly, or where we reasonably believe an order has been placed fraudulently.
Shipping & Collection
Orders are carefully packed and dispatched from our Papamoa studio.
Shipping costs and available delivery or collection options are shown at checkout. Estimated delivery times are a guide only and may be affected by circumstances outside our control.
Where studio collection is available, collection details will be provided after purchase.

Returns, Damaged or Faulty Products
We want you to be happy with your Crafty Chook purchase.
If your order arrives damaged, faulty or incorrect, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible at hello@craftychook.co.nz, preferably with your order details and photographs where relevant, so we can put things right.
Change-of-mind returns are subject to our Shipping & Returns policy.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions limits or excludes any rights you may have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, Fair Trading Act 1986 or other applicable New Zealand consumer law.
Workshops & Events
Crafty Chook workshops and events are designed to be relaxed, enjoyable experiences, and places are often limited.
Full payment is required to secure your booking unless otherwise stated.
Workshop dates, inclusions, location and any specific cancellation or transfer conditions will be shown with the relevant event or booking information.
If Crafty Chook needs to cancel or significantly reschedule an event, we will contact affected customers and provide an appropriate alternative, transfer or refund.
Because materials and preparations are often organised specifically for the number of people attending, customer cancellations may be subject to the cancellation conditions stated for that particular workshop.
Candle Coop & Subscriptions
Where a Crafty Chook product is offered as a recurring subscription, the price, billing frequency, minimum commitment and cancellation conditions will be displayed when you subscribe.
By purchasing a subscription, you authorise the applicable recurring payments according to the subscription terms shown at checkout.
You can manage your subscription in accordance with the conditions that applied when you joined.
If we make a material change to the price or terms of an ongoing subscription, we will communicate this appropriately before the change applies.
Gift Cards
Crafty Chook gift cards may be used towards eligible Crafty Chook purchases, subject to the conditions displayed with the gift card.
Gift cards sold to consumers will have an expiry period that complies with applicable New Zealand law. For eligible gift cards sold from 16 March 2026, this means an expiry period of at least three years from the date of sale.
Gift cards are not redeemable for cash except where required by law.
Please keep gift card details safe. If a gift card is lost or used without permission, we may not always be able to replace it.
Product Use & Safety
Please follow all directions and safety information provided with your Crafty Chook products and use products only for their intended purpose.
For candles:

Never leave a burning candle unattended.

Keep burning candles away from children, pets, draughts and flammable materials.

Place candles on a stable, heat-resistant surface.

Follow the candle-care instructions supplied with your candle, including recommended wick trimming and burn times.
Home fragrance, essential-oil and body products should also be used according to the directions provided with the individual product.
If you have particular sensitivities, allergies or concerns about ingredients, please contact us before use or purchase.
Privacy
We respect your privacy.
We collect and use personal information where reasonably necessary to process and fulfil orders, provide our products and services, communicate with you, operate and improve our website and business, and send marketing communications where you have chosen to receive them.
We may use trusted third-party service providers to help us operate our website, process payments, deliver orders and provide other business services. Personal information is only shared where reasonably necessary for these purposes or where required by law.
We handle personal information in accordance with applicable New Zealand privacy law.

Marketing Communications
If you choose to join our mailing list, we may occasionally send you Crafty Chook news, Journal updates, product releases, workshops and other relevant information.

Unless otherwise stated, the photographs, written content, branding, graphics and other original material appearing on the Crafty Chook website belong to Crafty Chook and may not be copied, reproduced or used commercially without permission.
You're very welcome to share Crafty Chook content through normal social-media sharing functions, and we always appreciate appropriate credit when our work or imagery is shared.

We do our best to keep the Crafty Chook website accurate and available, but occasionally information may contain an error or the website may be temporarily unavailable.
We may update products, pricing, content and these Terms & Conditions from time to time.

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
Nothing in these terms is intended to exclude, restrict or modify rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded under New Zealand consumer law.
