How Fragrance Lives in a Home

There’s something about walking into a home that smells beautiful.
Sometimes you notice it immediately. Other times it’s simply there in the background — familiar, comforting and quietly part of the way that home feels.
I was reminded of this recently during a conversation in the Crafty Chook studio.
We were talking about candles when my customer mentioned that, although she loves fragrance, she doesn’t often burn candles. Life gets busy. She might light one and then need to head out before it has had time to burn properly.
What she does love are reed diffusers.
She loves having that beautiful, subtle fragrance simply there in the background, without having to think about it.
This got us talking about the different ways fragrance can live in a home. Because perhaps we don’t need to choose just one.
The slow fragrance
Lighting a candle is an intentional little act.
Strike the match. Light the wick. Let the wax slowly begin to pool, and the fragrance gradually fill the room. A candle asks you to stay awhile.
